HULA IS THE LIVING HISTORY OF THE HAWAIIAN PEOPLE
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE HAWAIIAN CULTURE
WHATEVER YOUR ETHNIC HERITAGE, DOGMA OR AGE,
as a therapeutic dance and sacred practice, Hula builds a body confidence without changing a thing about you.
THIS SACRD DANCE PROVIDES A WAY FOR YOUR TO INTERPRET THE WORLD YOU OCCUPY MORE FULLY
AND AUTHENTICALLY IN THE WAY YOUR PERCEIVE IT
it can inform you of the positive way in which you regard your body, no matter the size or shape, as an instrument capable of describing the beauty of creation. In this way, it reveals the sacred in all things.
HULA HELPS YOU FIND YOUR WAY BACK TO THAT PLACE OF STILLNESS AND INNER PEACE WITHIN YOU
As storytelling, experience the beauty of these ancient chants and the frequency and vibration in the sacred words of this "Living Language" of Positivity, Love and Gratitude. You will find your way back to live a life filled with wonder, rapture—and love for yourself and the world around you.

CLASSES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE IN LEARNING HAWAIIAN OLI (SACRED CHANT) AND IN A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE HAWAIIAN LANUAGE, AS IT IS USED IN EACH HULA
They are offered in person in Spartanburg SC and online on Zoom. They are all under the umbrella of the Halau Hula Pu'uwai o Aloha - the Heart of Aloha Traditional School of Hula.
THERE IS ALSO A PRIVATE HULA 'OHANA (COMMUNITY) WITH THE HALUA HULA PU'UWAI O ALOHA (A School of Traditional Hawaiian Hula)
It is for any wahine (woman) who is serious and committed to a more in depth study of the Hawaiian culture and Living Aloha through Hula. Under the direction and steerage of Kaleo Nahenahe Wheeler, she navigates the Hula Haumana (students) in their Hula Wa'a (canoe). We each sit firmly in our place in the wa'a, paddling the waters of life together through weekly classes, access to the library of hulas taught (words, translation, interpretation, music, videos), a private Facebook group, and first choice and discounts for all workshops, retreats and private sessions.
Kaleo also is a South Carolina Arts Commission Artist In Residence sharing the Hawaiian Culture through Hula in grant programs offered in the school system throughout SC.

I was thrilled to discover the beauty and sacredness of the Hawaiian Hula and it’s traditions! It is like a moving, flowing, dancing meditation, honoring Life, Love and the Great Spirit. Kaleo is a wonderful dedicated teacher with much passion for sharing the tradition with the stories, chants, and beautiful dance. I want to keep learning more hulas as each seems to be more beautiful and inspiring!

Learning to live Aloha has brought profound changes to my life, within a very short time. The Hawaiian Hula is grounding and balancing to the mind and body - many physical "aches and pain" have been greatly reduced. My self esteem has increased. Hula is supportive of curvaceous femininity. I have made peace with my body, finally. My health and body image are improving day by day. Experiencing Hula under the direction of Hula Instructor, Kaleo has definitely enhanced my life’s journey.

Hula connects its dancers to music, earth, the present, the past and to each other. it's a way to build body confidence without changing a thing about you...to feel indescribably beautiful in a wholesome natural way...with love and respect as the foundation.

This is so beautifully healing. I am currently in Kaleo's Hula class. I have always had major, crippling body shame. I am learning how to move in unison with my innate beauty. This changes everything."
